SPRING??

Only one more week left of April, and it still feels like WINTER! Although we haven't been getting all the SNOW that some places are, the endless rain and cold temperatures sure doesn't feel much like Spring! I'm ready to feel the warmth of the sun, see some green grass, start digging in the dirt, and just spend some time outdoors without having to 'bundle up'!

One way to cure these Spring Blues is to make your own happiness - indoors! A mix of Spring-time colored paint and a bit of Spring floral print fabric can turn that frown upside down! Let me show you what I'm talkin' about.........

BEFORE:
I didn't take a photo of the actual chair I'm working on, so this really isn't the "before"!
It's similar, but more of a plain style!

The old fabric was the original covering and it was dirty, faded, and worn out. The springs were shot and the padding was - well, disgusting! It all went in the trash! I re-built the seat by weaving upholstry webbing across the seat and also across the entire chair back. I added 2" foam for the cushion and covered it with cotton batting for more of a pillow-top feel. I've done several of these types of chairs, but this one was more challenging than the others! It was taking me FOREVER to re-cover it.

I was explaining my frustrations with this chair in a call to my BFF in Colorado, and she laughed and said "all that work is turning it into a $700 chair"! Well, not quite, but it's true that most of my furniture projects have turned out to be a "labor of love"! Good thing I LOVE doing it. It would NEVER sell if I charged for all my hours of work!

 AFTER (for real!):
The colors  remind me of Spring. It looks like a little Spring dress with a flirty, flouncy hem!

I took this photo before I removed the pins on the back seam - didn't think they'd show! OOPS!

I got the idea of putting together different fabric patterns when I saw some furniture pieces on display at a local Hobby Lobby. The sofa and chair upholstry looked like a patchwork of colorful  prints! Very upbeat and fun! I couldn't take my eyes off of it! So I headed straight back to the fabric department and started to put together my own pattern mix - much more subdued, but the concept was the same! The trellis pattern compliments the floral, and the dots bring all the colors together in a playful way!

What are you doing to bring a little Spring sunshine into YOUR day?  It won't be long and the flowers will be in bloom for us to enjoy. Remember........No Winter lasts forever, No Spring misses it's turn!

With all the tragedy and sadness of the past week....Count your blessings and Love one another.

XOXO

LOVE THOSE VINTAGE TRAILERS!

With the arrival of warmer temperatures - FINALLY! - people are turning their thinking to getting outdoors! Bonding with nature! And, one of the best ways to do that is to go CAMPING! And how much MORE FUN it would be in a VINTAGE TRAVEL TRAILER!

I LOVE IT!!

My daughter, Vicky, developed a love for these little "canned hams" a few years ago and together with her husband, Richard, they have turned that fondness into a thriving business venture! You can read all about their story here www.retrotrailerdesign.com. Vicky has her own marketing business in travel and tourism. She has also been diligently working to get information out about their trailer restoration business! Several popular publications have picked up her story!

If you're familiar with Costco, a nationwide warehouse chain, then you may have seen the article about them in the April issue of the monthly magazine. Yep! Here it is!

Here's a peek at one they have For Sale!

ISN'T IT THE CUTEST!!
(Retro Trailer Designs will be featured in the AAA's Travel Magazine - Coming Soon!)

Vicky and Richard have so much fun with their own vintage Shasta, "Candy". The trailers they have restored are reminiscent of an bygone era - they bring back memories of a much simpler time. They just MAKE YOU HAPPY!

ARE YOU A HAPPY CAMPER?

XOXOX
